Excursion destinations

Sights & natural spectacles

A vacation in Saalfelden in the middle of the Salzburger Land is a dream. Here in Pinzgau there are countless destinations for excursions. And also in the surrounding area you will find many worth seeing, exciting, interesting and inspiring sights, natural spectacles and attractions. Even the Mozart and festival city of Salzburg is suitable for a day trip and especially worth a visit!

Excursions do not let boredom arise even with children. The baby and children's farm Oberhasling is the ideal starting point for excursions in the Pinzgau, Land Salzburg or even into neighboring Tyrol and Bavaria.

Here are a few suggestions from us:

Grossglockner High Alpine Road

The drive on the probably most famous of all alpine roads, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, leads to the highest mountain in Austria and is an experience for young and old. 48 kilometers, this beautiful panoramic road leads through the diverse mountain world of the Hohe Tauern National Park and delights all nature lovers with its fascinating fauna and flora.
Numerous themed hiking trails, exhibitions, visitor centers and playgrounds are also offered. The Ferleiten toll station is just under 36 km from us and there you should also take the opportunity to visit more than 200 animals native to the Alps in the Ferleiten Wildlife and Leisure Park.

Ice Giant World Werfen

A visit to the world's largest ice cave should not be missed on your vacation. This ice cave is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the province of Salzburg and amazes its visitors with a total passage length of more than 40 kilometers and fascinating ice sculptures. Experienced guides lead visitors through the winding corridors of the Eisriesenwelt, and visitors learn interesting facts about the history and origins of the cave. And even those who want to escape the summer heat have a good chance of cooling off at temperatures usually below 0° C! The Eisriesenwelt in Werfen is just under 56 km away from us.

Saalachtal forces of nature

The Lamprechtshöhle cave as well as the Seisenberg and Vorderkaserklamm gorges are worthwhile excursion destinations in Salzburg's Saalachtal valley. With a total extension of 51 km, the Lamprechtshöhle in St. Martin bei Lofer is one of the largest show caves in Austria. Fascinating impressions can also be gained by visiting the two gorges, which can be found at the foot of the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge mountains. Here, nature has created bizarrely shaped rocks in a very confined space, over which raging waterfalls rush. These three imposing natural monuments are only a 10-minute drive from the Oberhaslinghof.

Krimml waterfalls

A trip to the Krimml Waterfalls, about 70 km away, is worthwhile in any case. The largest waterfalls in Europe offer an incredible natural spectacle and impress with a drop height of an incredible 380 meters! Let yourself be fascinated by the power of the water and take a hike along the 4 km long waterfall trail, which brings you up close to this "natural wonder" at many vantage points, or visit the interesting water wonderland. The Krimml Waterfalls are the only natural monument in Austria and can be visited from May to October.

City of Salzburg

A visit to the Mozart and festival city of Salzburg, which is only about 75 km away, should definitely be included in your vacation planning. The charm of the historic old town with the Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace alone will enchant you. The Hohensalzburg Fortress towers high above the rooftops, and if you are a lover of well-tended gardens and flowers, you should definitely take a walk in the Mirabell Gardens. Strolling through the many alleys, one or the other vacation souvenir could be purchased and culinary delights are also not missed here.
